The Buzzword “Story”

There’s this buzzword that is being used so much right now all over the place:

STORY

“Tell me your story” “I want to hear about your story” “I want to share my story” “Let me share your story” We hear it all the time and everywhere, but I’ve seen it used in many ways where it’s not really a true story.

DEFINITION: Story is a narrative, either true or fictitious, designed to interest, amuse, or instruct its audience.

Another definition says: “plot or succession of incidents.”

So when I see a business say, “this is our story” and goes on to tell me what they do and their passions, that doesn’t quite count as a story.

On the other hand, when a 5 year old tells you story, it may be a true narrative but it’s INCREDIBLY long and never-ending! You don’t want to go this route either.

SO HOW DO WE TELL A STORY THAT IS NARRATIVE AND ALSO ENGAGING?

There’s an actual process and structure to help you do this! It doesn’t have to be an instinct or “come naturally” and I want to show you how to do this.

Because:

STRONG STORIES WILL DRIVE MORE ACTION, THEY WILL NOT ONLY BE ENGAGING, BUT EFFECTIVE.

That’s all I have for today, but make sure to check out my free resources to help you get started. (First one will be live 9/24/19).
