Filming & Family / Our trip to Spain

Sitting here on the couch after being home for 3 days and I finally feel like myself again. Traveling with an infant is hard enough, but add 2 colds to that and it’s pretty exhausting. The last few days battling sickness and jet lag have been rough for us, but so glad to be home & back with Frank. <3 He’s currently rocking Lucas for his first nap of the day.

But I wanted to fill you guys in on how our trip went! We spent 3 weeks in Spain, and my main purpose was to work on a short film working with Beyond Creative & Project Rescue- (my favorites!). It was such a special trip because I was working on this story that’s so incredible, and I got to do it while spending time with my parents and other friends and acquaintances that helped so much during this production.

A HUGE shout out to my parents that hosted me and Lucas, babysat a LOT, and chauffeured me and other crew members all around Madrid. Another HUGE shout out to IMM, who was my connection for extra filming gear- that team is truly amazing. And major shout outs to Project Rescue & Beyond Creative for trusting me to tell this story, and giving me the opportunity to do it!

The time went by pretty fast as the first week I spent finalizing pre-production, figuring out locations, finalizing shot lists, and connecting with crew and talent. I ended up deciding to film at my parents house because it was the easiest and best option for filming interviews. They have a nice large open area (uncommon in Spain) with a couple windows where we could shoot lights through because it was accessed by their patio and we didn’t have to worry about theft (a big issue in Spain), and we could do all the setup a day before. My mom even offered to cook food for everyone, THANKS MOM!! 😘

Set up lighting and cameras for our interviews. Daylight LEDs through the windows for light and shape, and one LED as a kick.

Mom as a stand-in for our main interview. She’s sitting backwards because we had to protect her identity. (We used an actress for broll)

So one day was for interviews to get the story, and then we filmed some Broll later that week. We haven’t finished filming yet and have another interview and some recreation scenes to film, but that’s in the works! I’m praying over this story and short film that it will have an eternal impact, and be the cause for many many more girls to be rescued from sex trafficking. Pray with me if you will.

Hope to keep you in the loop as I keep working on this project! Follow me on IG to get more inside scoop and behind-the-scenes.
